Burns Bog Fire 60% contained.

The Fire in Burns Bog started on Sunday, July 3 just before 12pm. The blaze began near highway 17 and was fueled by gusts of wind, spreading the flames from 10 hectares to 55 hectares. 90 firefighters from different jurisdictions were battling the fire. A region of Highway 17 was closed off, and businesses in the Tilbury industrial area on Progress Way were evacuated late Sunday.

The evacuation order on the Tilbury industrial region was lifted late last night . South Fraser Perimeter Road is anticipated to stay closed from Highway 99 to the Highway 91 connector until Friday, July 8. Officials are cautiously optimistic that the fire will be 100% contained by the end of today.
