The Burns Bog Conservation Society Welcomes Returning Guests to The 10th Annual Earth Day Pilgrimage to Burns Bog
The Burns Bog Conservation Society is hosting its 10th annual Earth Day Pilgrimage to Burns Bog on April 23, 2017. This event is close to the heart of the Society as well as returning performers Susan Summers and the Sacred Web Singers. The Earth Day Pilgrimage is an enjoyable way for all families, cultures, and beliefs, to discover the importance of Burns Bog – the largest undeveloped urban wilderness in North America!
“(The Sacred Web Singers) care about and participate in causes that involve the environment and people. We like to share our music with those who care for our earth,” states Summers. The goal of the Pilgrimage is to raise awareness for Burns Bog as an important peatland, and to educate people about the spiritually enriching elements of our local natural spaces. Peatlands are a crucial part of our ecosystem and must be protected. Although peatlands are located on every continent except Antarctica they only cover 3% of the worlds land space.
“(the Sacred Web Singers) gather to sing meaningful songs celebrating life, spirituality, social justice, peace, the earth, and our joyful relationship to all,” says Susan Summers, a member of the Sacred Web Singers. The Society looks forward to seeing the Sacred Web Singers preform at the Pilgrimage each year. This spiritual walk through the Delta Nature Reserve features a variety of entertainment, while enjoying the beauty of the natural setting. You, your family, and your friends are welcome to enjoy the calmness and serenity that comes from spending time in Burns Bog.
